Community Based Employability Programs
 

Community Based Employability Projects provide supported employment activities to income assistance clients with a disability.

Specific outcomes for the projects will depend on the individual’s project goals, but it is expected that they will improve the participant’s general employability, prepare them for job search or result in direct employment. 

Eligible Participants

Participants must be:

  • Persons with disabilities; and

  • Eligible for, or in receipt of income assistance; and

  • Fisher River Band Members registered under the Indian Act, and who are a resident of Manitoba.

 

Eligible Project Sponsors

Community Partners such as Local Businesses, Educational Institutions, Non-Profit Organizations, Fisher River Cree Nation Administration, and Community Development Corporations     

Duration

Project duration is negotiable, up to 52 weeks. Individual client participation varies depending on the project activities.

 

 

Financial Assistance

Participants will remain on income assistance while participating in the project.

 

 

Types of Project Activities

Project activities include:

  • pre-employment preparation;

  • work experience opportunities; and

  • Employment placement.
