 CHILDREN'S SUPPORT WORKERS

For Part-time and/or Casual Positions

Requirements of Employment:

·         Background in Child Care, preferably with Early Childhood Education.  Consideration will be given to applicants who have worked in area of family violence.

·         Skills and ability to work with the psychological effects of domestic violence and the effects on the child who has witnessed abuse.

·         The ability to work with different feelings of confusion, anger, etc. in children of different age groups.

·         Ability to plan and supervise activities outside the shelter.

·         Clear understanding of confidentiality and the dynamics of a “supportive” relationship.

·         Willingness to undergo police record check, child abuse registry check and drug test according to the policies of the Shelter.

·         Valid driver’s license.

·         May involve some evening work and weekends.
